Glenullin 1-15 Newtownbutler 1-8:Glenullin's superior firepower saw them book a place in the last four of the Ulster club championship at Celtic Park yesterday.
Newtownbutler remained in contention for much of the match with a robust defensive performance. However once the Erne men were forced to chase the game they were outdone by the pace and finishing power of Eoin Bradley, who finished with four points from play.
Newtownbutler led 0-3 to 0-1 after eight minutes thanks to frees from James Connolly and a point from Kevin Connolly.
However, with Ruairi Boylan starting to dominate at midfield, scores from Paddy Bradley, Gerard O'Kane and Ruairi and Donal Boylan edged Glenullin two points in front.
By half-time the margin was 0-9 to 0-5 with Eoin Bradley, Paddy Bradley (two) and Boylan on target again while Barry Connolly and Colm Monahan replied for the visitors.
The teams added just one point apiece in a dreary third quarter and when Barry Connolly pointed on 48 minutes there was only a goal between the teams.
But another pointed Boylan free saw Glenullin pull clear. Gerard O'Kane extended the lead before three points on the trot from Eoin Bradley made it 0-15 to 0-7. Frank Mulligan's late goal gave Newtownbutler a glimmer of hope but Paddy Bradley replied with a goal in injury time.
