Former Thirsk-based Sue Bramall made her trip from Co Wexford pay off when Bangabunny, partnered by Ken Whelan, won the Bill Butler Memorial Handicap Chase at Kelso yesterday.
Mrs Bramall said: "We've brought him over because he kept getting balloted out in Ireland so many times that I could scream. He deserved to win, he has been second many times and always behind a good horse."
Brendan Powell makes his return to the saddle at Kempton Park today where he has four booked rides. The 39-year-old jockey was badly injured in a heavy fall at Newton Abbot at the beginning of November when he was knocked unconscious and suffered six broken ribs and a punctured lung.
One of the horses he will be reunited with, possibly next Saturday, is the Peter Beaumont-trained Young Kenny, on whom he won the Greenalls Grand National Trial, Midlands Grand National and Scottish Grand National last season.
