Puzzled faces all around at a Nottingham Forest training session last week when captain Steve Chettle - bedecked in his Forest kit and boots - suddenly made a run for it and dived in to the River Trent. Now, things haven't been going too well at the club this season but still, his manager David Platt probably wondered why Chettle didn't just submit a transfer request if he felt that badly. But all was not as it seemed: Chettle had spotted a drowning Labrador in the river and heroically went to his rescue. Everybody: "Aaaaah". "I don't even like dogs," said our dripping hero afterwards. The police? "His actions were brave. . . but very stupid." Brave but very stupid? If David Platt was unkind that might be how he'd describe Chettle's defending against Huddersfield last week.
