Finn Harps moved into third place in the Premier Division following this impressive victory over Bray Wanderers in Ballybofey. Harps, who had been jeered by their supporters after a scoreless draw with Dundalk last week, were ahead yesterday after only seven minutes. Paddy McGrenaghan did the hard work on the right wing before crossing to James Mulligan, who slammed past John Walsh from close range. Despite creating several more chances, Harps didn't find the net again until the 39th minute. Tom Mohan claimed the goal after he slid on to a Jonathan Speak header, although the ball did appear to hit Bray defender Barry O'Connor
Three minutes into injury time at the end of the half, Harps added to their tally when Speak met a cross from Pascal Vaudequin and headed past Walsh to make it 3-0.
Four minutes into the second half, Speak reacted quickly after James Mulligan's shot was blocked to steer the rebound into the net for Harps' fourth. Bray substitute Steven Fox tried to reduce the deficit in the 51st minute but was denied by two excellent saves from Brian McKenna. McGrenaghan almost added another seconds later, only to be stopped by Tommy Gill's timely challenge. Mohan did make it 5-0, however, when he raced on to a pass from Speak in the 53rd minute and rifled a left foot shot past Walsh. Two minutes later Fox again was denied by McKenna but there was nothing McKenna could do to prevent Bray finally scoring, and Pat O'Brien found the net from close range in the 76th minute after a mix-up in the defence.
Two minutes later, it was 6-1 when Jonathan Minnock curled a free kick from the edge of the box past the helpless Bray goalkeeper.
Barry O'Connor made it 6-2 in the 80th minute with another close-range effort.
