Brian's Delight returned to form when overcoming top-weight to land the £10,500 Jameson Ulster National EBS Handicap Chase at Downpatrick yesterday.
The Michael Cunningham-trained mare was never far off the pace in this stamina test, and rallied well under Shane McGovern from the last to beat Nascimento by a length. Cunningham may be tempted by a £20,000 bonus (divided evenly between owner and trainer) for also winning the Irish National at Fairyhouse next month. Kevin O'Brien saddled his first winner under rules since opening his account with Mistress Kate here 12 months ago when Danceperk justified strong support in the Downpatrick On-Course Bookmakers Maiden Hurdle.
Sharimage rallied strongly for John Quinn on the run-in to beat High Star by seven lengths in the Ballygowan Kitchens Hunters Chase.
