The Pontypridd number eight Dale McIntosh and Brive flanker Lionel Nallier both received one month suspensions tonight after being sent off during a brutal Heineken Cup clash in France. Scottish referee Ed Murray dismissed them following a prolonged 27th minute brawl that blighted Brive's dramatic 32-31 Pool C victory.

McIntosh had been set upon by several Brive players, and appeared to be defending himself when a full-scale fight erupted.

Murray struggled to keep control of a desperate situation, and had no option but to brandish the red card once tempers cooled.

Despite losing such a key player, the Welsh champions came within seconds of an amazing success, leading 31-27 in injury time before Brive lock Yvan Nanhes claimed a controversial winning try.
