Top honours in the Ford Ladies strokeplay championship regional final at Old Conna last week went to Susan Byrne from Arklow. Byrne had a nett 72 to finish one shot clear of Ann Hughes of Stackstown with Sally Fildes of the host club also qualifying for the finals at Druids Glen with a 74 in class one. Also through in this class are Kate Overend of Carrickmines and Helen Lacey of Wexford.

Class two was won by Noreen O'Grady of Slade Valley, also with a 72, from Margaret Keogh (Castle), and 17-year-old Louise Murphy (Mount Wolseley). Coollattin's Claire Roche was fourth and Pat Dolan of Powerscourt also secured a place in the final. In class three a brilliant 66 took Noleen Williams of Coollattin to the top of the leaderboard.
