The vacancies created on the ICF Board by the resignations of Dermot Dignam and Paddy Griffin, and another that had been left open at the AGM, will be filled at the board's first meeting of the new year in the Dublin headquarters tomorrow (10.0).

Ciaran McKenna takes over as publicity officer with Tommy Campbell back in charge of leisure cycling and the result of the ballot for the position as head of the development committee vacated by Dignam will be revealed tomorrow.

It should also be decided then who takes over the important additional new role as chairman with responsibility for the day-today running of the federation as the president Pat McQuaid said his work will be mainly on the international front.

Although Griffin, who had done very well in charge of the leisure scene, was the only nomination for PRO at the annual meeting in Malahide on November 28th, McKenna said then he was interested in the position but his application was late and did not go through the proper channel. Campbell said he had decided to step down after 30 years as a top official but with nobody else willing to do the job, he takes over the daunting leisure-affairs task.

National team director Richie Beatty has called for a gathering of international cyclists and those who think they should be considered for international duty at the Spa Hotel, Lucan, tomorrow. There is to be an open discussion on plans for the season. Ireland have qualified for full teams of five in the under-23 and junior world championships at Verona in October and the programme will build up to those assignments and the new world B championship in Uruguay in November. Although Mark Scanlon is only ranked at number nine in the world, Ireland heads the junior list and Ireland's under-23 ranking is 25. After Scanlon attends the Texaco Sports Star awards function in Dublin on Tuesday night, he goes to Amsterdam on Thursday for the presentation of his new Dutch team Rabobank in Utrecht.

There will be training sessions for the squad in Holland and he is due back home in Sligo on January 25th but the serious business begins on February 14th when all the Rabobank members attend the training camp at Calpe for final preparation before the racing starts in March.
