RED ROCK Canyon has kept the best of company throughout his career as Ballydoyle’s regular pacemaker but he gets the chance to score a long overdue first success at Tipperary this evening.
The five-year-old is no mean performer in his own right and today’s opposition can count themselves unfortunate to be facing up to a 108-rated horse in a maiden.
Cutting out the pace for superstars such as Duke Of Marmalade and Soldier Of Fortune last year took Red Rock Canyon around the world but when given a Group Three opportunity last time he failed behind Summit Surge at Leopardstown.
This is a very different proposition, though, and although a trip just shy of a mile is short of his best, Red Rock Canyonshould finally make a visit to the winners enclosure.
Johnny Murtagh can also be successful on the well bred newcomer Kingdom Of Munster, a son of the hugely successful Danehill Dancer, in the juvenile maiden.
