Paul Carberry received an upbeat medical bulletin yesterday and should be fit to return to action this weekend.

The Grand National-winning rider, set to partner Florida Pearl in the Gold Cup in 17 days time, received severe bruising in a hunting accident on Friday and remains in Navan hospital.

However, Carberry's father, Tommy, said at Fairyhouse yesterday: "Paul is in good form. The doctor who saw him this morning said he'll be okay in a couple of days and that he'll be fine."

The Turf Club medical officer, Dr Walter Halley, after consulting with surgeons in Navan, said at the weekend that Carberry is stood down from racing until next Saturday and that further X-rays and bone scans will be taken on the jockey.

Other high-profile rides lined up for Carberry at Cheltenham include Ireland's main Arkle Trophy hope Frozen Groom and Sausalito Bay in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle.
