A 65th minute point from a free by Shinny McQuillan snatched Antrim champions Cargin a win. After playing with the storm at their backs during the first half they led by 0-8 to 1-1 at the interval. Midfield man McQuillan was the star of the show as he pointed every free kick he attempted, finishing with a tally of eight points, all but two from placed balls. One minute in to injury time substitute Peter Kerr rose high to fist into the net. That levelled the tussle but four minutes later referee Gerry Lynch awarded a free-kick to Cargin 40 metres out and McQuillan sent over the winner.
