Jason Sherlock and Dessie Farrell have been selected on the Dublin team to play Longford in Longford in the O'Byrne Cup football competition next Sunday. This will be their first appearance in a Dublin jersey since the championship defeat against Meath last June.
Other notable features of Tommy Carr's first selection since he took over as Dublin manager are the placing of Mick Deegan at left half forward and Ciaran Whelan at midfield, where he partners Brian Stynes.
Jonathan McGee, Ian Robertson and Eamonn Heery form the half back line, with captain Keith Barr surprisingly named among the substitutes.
Dermot Harrington and Darren Homan, who have filled a number of positions in recent matches, have been selected at full back and full forward, respectively, which may be an indication of Carr's long-term strategy.
