DEAN RYAN CUP FINAL - St Flannan's Ennis 2-11 De La Salle Waterford 1-6:SUPERIOR fire-power was the key to victory for St Flannan's College as they claimed the Dean Ryan Cup with eight points to spare.
Dylan Casey was the scorer-in-chief for the Clare side in Cashel yesterday, bagging seven points from play and frees, but all six forwards managed to trouble the umpires and that proved the difference.
Behind from the 10th minute, De La Salle found themselves 10 points down midway through the second half after an excellent Shane O’Donnell goal, and while a brave rally brought the Waterford college points from Darragh Flynn and Jack McCarthy along with a fine Flynn goal, they conceded three on the bounce in the closing five minutes.
For St Flannan’s, Conor Clancy was superb at full back, supported through the spine of centre back David Conroy and Martin O’Leary in midfield, and impressive forwards Dylan Casey, Stephen Ward and Shane O’Donnell.
