ROSCOMMON SFC FINAL (replay)/Castlerea 0-9 Padraig Pearses 0-8: CASTLEREA WON their first county senior football title in five years by defeating Padraig Pearses by one point in a disappointing replay played before over 3,000 fans at Hyde Park.
The guile and experience of team captain Nigel Dineen, the scoring ability of Ger Heneghan and their resolute defence were crucial for Castlerea in a tense game spoiled by a strong wind.
Pearses, who were seeking their first-ever county title, failed to make the most of the wind in the second half.
