Cavan SFC Final/Cavan Gaels 0-15 Gowna 0-11:Cavan Gaels - appearing in no less than their ninth senior football championship final in 10 years - yesterday were too strong for Gowna at Kingspan Breffni Park.

Gowna beat the Gaels in the 2002 decider, but suffered an early blow yesterday when star player Dermot McCabe was forced off due to injury and the Gaels forged a 0-9 to 0-4 lead by the interval.

With Seánie Johnston knocking over some big scores, the Gaels - who were beaten by Mullahoran in last year's final - were able to keep Gowna at bay in the second half.
