CBC Monkstown struggled against Section A contenders, HFDLS Skerries, at Castle Avenue yesterday.
Skerries did not enjoy that much luck with one effort from Mark Heeney coming off the post and one goal from four attempts in the end was to prove costly for them.
Monkstown weathered the storm in the first half with the Skerries side entrenched in their 22 for quite a while.
But they finally managed to move away and a scrum under the Skerries post finally saw number eight Keith Doyle work his way over the line just before the whistle.
Skerries, however, finally got their names on the scoreboard 10 minutes after the break when Heany sent over a penalty from 10 yards. But Monkstown finished the stronger with wing forward Marcello O'Reilly just inches away from a try in the dyings seconds following a run down the centre.
