OLYMPIC GAMES:British sprinter Dwain Chambers has pleaded for a chance to correct his "massive mistake" and compete for Great Britain at this summer's London Olympics.

The 34-year-old, who was banned for two years in 2004 after testing positive for a banned steroid, was prevented from competing at the Beijing Games but is eligible for selection for London after the British Olympic Association’s lifetime ban for drugs cheats was last month ruled non-compliant by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

He accepts he has his work cut out to win over the doubters, but hopes to get them onside as he continues his quest.

“All I can do is say I am sorry,” said Chambers.

“I have made a mistake, a massive mistake, and all I want is another chance to correct it, a chance to do the best for my country.

“To run in my home Olympics? I would say it was a dream come true but it’s not. Because I didn’t even bother dreaming. I thought I would be sitting at home watching.”
