Golf's World Cup received a long-term commitment from China today with the announcement that Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzhen will host the event for the next 12 years.

The European Tour, its organisers, also announced that the number of participating nations will be increased by four to 28.

Eighteen seeded countries will participate in the World Cup finals in November, with another 10, including Ireland should they be successful, coming through qualification in Aruba in the Caribbean and in Kuala Lumpur.

Although the World Cup, won last year by Bernhard Langer and Marcel Siem of Germany, has ceased to be a world golf championship event, the prize money has gone up to €3.5 million.

Mission Hills GC hosted the 1995 World Cup, won by the United States, the most successful nation in the tournament since it began in 1953.
