The Kildare County Board have nominated current county champions Clane to participate in the Leinster club football championship match against Fr Manning Gaels (Longford) on Saturday.

Clane, who have again qualified for the county final, had already been nominated but five clubs objected to that, including Sarsfields and Round Towers who will contest the right to meet Clane in this year's county final.

However, those objections were withdrawn before the issue went to a vote at a special meeting of the board last night.

Meanwhile, Pa Laide returns to the Kerry forward line for their National Football League match against Louth in Austin Stack Park, Tralee. Laide was consigned to the bench for the league opener but has been reinstated at wing forward by manager Paidi O Se, who has also named Maurice Fitzgerald among his substitutes. Fitzgerald is recuperating from a long-term shoulder injury.

David Nestor returns to the Mayo team following a hamstring injury to Pat Fallon for their league game against Laois. Fallon just made his comeback recently after being sidelined for a lengthy spell with a leg injury. A space has also been left vacant in the half forward line as Liam McHale is playing basketball in Belfast on Saturday evening.

Monaghan manager Eamonn McEneaney has made two changes for his team to play Meath on Sunday. Dermot McDermott comes in at full back while Philip McCaul will partner Joe Coyle at midfield. John Conlon and Keith McGonnell are the two players to lose out. The Connacht Council yesterday announced details of a trip to San Francisco for the province's under-16 development panel.

A squad of 30 players will tour from November 30th until December 13th, completing their foundation-level coaching course and competing in two challenge games against San Francisco selections.

The group will also visit schools to give skills and coaching clinics under the direction of coaches John Tobin, John McGowan, Eugene Lavin and Paul Durcan.
