McGrath Cup SF Semi-finals/Clare 2-11 Cork IT 0-6:Clare proved far too strong for Cork IT in the semi-final of the McGrath Cup in Cooraclare yesterday to give new manager Frank Doherty three wins out of three.

Within a minute of the throw-in Rory Donnelly rattled the Cork IT net after he collected a long ball from midfield, delivered by Frank O'Dea.

Michael O'Shea and Timmy Ryan added points before David Tubridy fisted a second goal in the eighth minute and then O'Dea landed a free to put his side nine points in front. Daniel Goulding eventually got the students off the mark with a point at the end of the first quarter.

Clare had further scores from Tubridy on two occasions to help them to a 2-5 to 0-4 lead at half-time. Colm O'Neill reduced the margin with a point seven minutes into the second half but it was as close as the students could get to their opponents for the remainder of the game.
