Betting British Masters: If ever the horses for courses theory applied, it is to this week's British Masters where Darren Clarke is very much the king of the Forest of Arden course - or, at least, he has been, when it staged the English Open.

In his seven competitive appearances there, Clarke has finished in the top-five on six occasions and has won there twice, in 2000 and 2002.

The only problem with Clarke in recent weeks has been with his putter - tee-to-green no one has played better.

But it is often the case that a return to a favourite old haunt can exorcise such demons, and it is our of belief - even with such short odds on someone who hasn't actually won a tournament in almost 12 months - that Clarke is very much the man to beat this week and worth a wee win wager.

For each-way value, you could do worse than take a pot at Peter Lawrie who is on offer at 80 to 1.
