Cavan 1-11 Armagh 1-5:CAVAN PUT their troubles at senior level behind them to advance at Kingspan/Breffni Park.
Four glorious points from Kevin Tierney helped propel the defending champions into a 0-6 to 0-1 lead. However, points from corner-forwards Robbie Tasker and James Donnelly cut their lead to 0-6 to 0-4 at the interval.
A pass from the outstanding Tierney saw Chris Conroy fire low into the Armagh net after 36 minutes. As Cavan sought to consolidate their 1-8 to 0-4 lead, tempers flared in the 47th minute and Armagh’s Aidan Forker received a straight red card.
Armagh seemed to get a reprieve though when Tasker netted, soccer-style, in the 48th minute but it was a false dawn.
