Sports Digest/CRICKET: Holders Clontarf have been drawn away to Malahide in the second round of the Conqueror Senior Cup which takes place on June 6th, reports James Fitzgerald.

The two teams will have played each other just two days before in the second round of the Irish Senior Cup and they have already squared up in the league last Sunday with Clontarf taking first blood.

In what promises to be another hard-fought Fingal derby, The Hills will play North County at Milverton.

With a couple of players coming in to bolster the squad this year, The Hills have been very impressive. And although North County must be favourites with Andre Botha, Conor Armstrong and Paul Mooney in form, one feels only a total in excess of 300 will be competitive on the flat wickets and fast outfield at Milverton.

Meanwhile, Pembroke face a tough challenge, having been drawn away to last year's beaten finalists Rush. In the remaining tie, Leinster host Merrion.

CONQUEROR SENIOR CUP DRAW: Second round (June 6th, 11am): The Hills v North County, Malahide v Clontarf, Rush v Pembroke, Leinster v Merrion.

MOTOR SPORT: Struggling champions Ferrari hope changes to Formula One's qualifying system will boost Michael Schumacher's chances in his home race at the Nuerburgring next weekend. Teams have agreed to scrap the current two-session format, where the grid is decided on the morning of the race on Sunday, in favour of a single session on Saturday.

The sport's governing body, FIA, said yesterday the change would be effective from Sunday's European Grand Prix in Germany. "I am sure it will not disturb us. I think it will probably be better for us," team boss Jean Todt said on Sunday.

ATHLETICS: Former triple Olympic champion Marion Jones, who is not welcome at most of Europe's leading meetings, may compete in Hengelo, Netherlands, on Sunday. "I hope she will compete," meeting director Fedde Zwanenburg said. "On Wednesday there will be a final decision."

The Euro-Meetings group, whose members organise nearly 50 meetings, decided this month it would invite neither Jones nor Tim Montgomery to their meetings because of their association with the BALCO laboratory.
