Kildare: Clane - By far the most successful club in Kildare, having gathered a total of 21 senior football and 17 senior hurling county championships and numerous other underage titles down through the years. In the early years the Kildare team adopted the all-white colours of Clane and hence became the Lilywhites. The 1963 county championship came after a 46-year break, with the likes of Pa Connelly, Jim `Kaiser' Bracken and Tommy Carew outstanding members from the period who also played for the county. Although Clane won two county titles back to back in 1991-92, it was the early part of the century when the three-in-a-row was last won. Six members of the club team play in Croke Park on Sunday. The present club complex, which opened in 1975, consists of four playing pitches and modern dressingrooms, recreation hall and members' lounge.
