Coláiste na Sceilge ... 3-8 Dingle CBS ... 1-6 Colaiste Na Sceilge remained on course for a hat-trick of Corn Uí Mhuire (Munster Colleges senior football) titles after they shook of the challenge of a dogged Dingle CBS side in this all-Kerry semi-final played before a small attendance at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney, yesterday
Dingle CBS dominated for long periods of the first half thanks to some solid defending and the superb fielding of Muiris and Cathal MacGearailt at midfield.
Dingle had raced 0-3 to 0-1 clear after 10 minutes thanks to two David Geaney frees and a fine effort from Aodán Curran, while Bryan Sheehan replied with a free for the holders.
Coláiste Na Sceilge struck for a fortunate goal in the 15th minute when a Sheehan free came back off the crossbar and Kevin O'Sullivan drilled the rebound low to the Dingle net.
Coláiste Na Sceilge retired at the interval the happier side, only trailing 1-4 to 1-2, having played against the strong wind.
They resumed the second half a transformed side and the game was effectively decided in the opening 10 minutes as the champions took over completely and scored 1-4 without reply, with Paul O'Connor rattling the Dingle net in the 34th minute.
When Kevin O'Sullivan danced past his Dingle marker in the 44th minute to drill a low ball to the net it left Coláiste Na Sceilge 3-6 to 1-5 in front.
Dingle did not register a single score from play in the second half as the winners' forward line had the ability to strike for goals when required. But they must improve if they are to complete the three in a row.
