McGrath Cup: Tralee IT corner-forward Michael Collins scored all of his sides points as the students put pay to Waterford's aspirations of making the McGrath Cup semi-final at Kill yesterday.
The Kerry under-21 captain managed his feat despite having to spend 10 minutes in the sin bin at the start of the second half.
The county side started well and were leading by 0-6 to 0-1 with three minutes left in the first half before Collins struck twice and Patsy O'Connell scored a goal to ensure his side were behind by just a point, 0-7 to 1-3, at the change of ends.
Collins scored his fourth point to level the match within a minute of the restart but he was then sent to the sin bin. Waterford, though, could only manage a point in his absence through Jason Ryan and from there the students took control of the game.
Collins pointed on his return and, with 15 minutes left, Enda Coughlan scored his side's second goal to give Tralee IT the lead for the first time. A lead they would never relinquish as Collins added three more points.
