ALL-IRELAND MFC SEMI-FINAL Tyrone 1-21 Meath 2-7: ULSTER CHAMPIONS Tyrone produced a brilliant display of attacking football to book an ESB All-Ireland minor football final showdown with Mayo on September 21st.

Classy corner forward Kyle Coney showed what a loss he will be to Tyrone after the final after catching fire in the second half, displaying the array of skills which attracted the attention of Australian Football League giants Sydney Swans.

Coney, who will link up with fellow Irishman Tadhg Kennelly later this year, kicked all of his seven points after half-time as the Tyrone attack clicked into gear.

During this rout, all six of Tyrone's starting forwards scored from play, while both midfielders and substitute Ronan McNabb were also on target. In contrast, Meath kicked just two points from play, one in each half, while both of their goals had an element of good fortune about them.

Meath struck for two second-half goals within the space of three minutes. Strikes from midfielder Damien Carroll and wing forward Daire Smyth cut Tyrone's 11-point lead down to five (1-14 to 2-6), but the Ulster kingpins responded emphatically with six unanswered points.

In the first half, Meath centre forward Michael Newman struck a post after seven minutes but Tyrone were much more incisive in front of goal.

Corner forward Conor O'Neill found the net two minutes before the break after Meath full back Ciarán Lenehan was caught napping in possession and Tyrone doubled a three-point lead to six.

They led by five points at half-time, 1-7 to 0-5, and had stretched that advantage to 12 with less than 20 minutes remaining.

In the 46th minute, Carroll found the net at the second attempt as his deflected shot roared past Tim Harney and two minutes later, Smyth's 20 metre drop-kick flew into the top corner as the Royals upped the chase.

It was brief respite, however, as Tyrone roared away with a run of six successive points in as many minutes to move into the comfort zone once again.
