Fitzgibbon Cup holders Waterford Institute of Technology stayed on track for a hat-trick of titles with this impressive quarterfinal victory over Cork Institute of Technology at Bishopstown, Cork yesterday.
Clare senior Gearoid Considine stamped his authority on the game with a fantastic contribution of 26 from play, with Kilkenny forward Henry Shefflin claiming the other goal, as well as six points from frees.
Considine pounced for the opening goal after nine minutes as WIT swept 1-10 to 0-6 clear at the break, with CIT relying on Pat Dineen's frees to keep in touch.
Any hopes of a Cork revival were dashed when Shefflin grabbed his side's second goal after 37 minutes. Considine then completed a memorable individual display with his second goal nine minutes from the end.
