Rugby All-Ireland League Felipe Contepomi is expected to make his All-Ireland League debut next Saturday for Co Carlow away to Buccaneers. Although not exactly what he envisioned as his first competitive start on Irish soil, Contepomi has been given permission by Leinster coach Gary Ella to play for the midlands side, in order to get some match practice.
The Argentinian outhalf is unable to lineout for Leinster this afternoon against Biarritz after it was revealed last week that an administrative error meant he was not registered correctly for the pool stages. Leinster also yesterday announced they are resigned to playing without him until the knock out stages, presuming they progress that far.
However, a problem has arisen regarding Contepomi's eligibility, and that of Christian Cullen, to play in the All-Ireland League.
Neither player has fulfilled the necessary registration regulations because they arrived after the cut off date of October 18th. Several clubs have objected to the inclusion of the two players on these grounds. The IRFU committee meet next Thursday when a decision will be made on the matter.
