RACING:FORPADYDEPLASTERER is a general 10 to 1 shot to upset the Kauto Star "five-in-row" party in Kempton's King George VI Chase and trainer Tom Cooper reports the former Arkle winner to be in prime form for his first attempt at three miles.
“He is doing very well and I’m very happy with him. We have had no problems so far, he’s been working every day. I’m hoping it is going to be on, that we get nice ground and we’ll see how we get on over three miles,” the Co Kerry trainer said yesterday.
“The ground was on the soft side last year but the three or four years prior to that it was nice ground. The ground is the secret with him,” he added.
Forpadydeplasterer has been runner-up in his last seven races, and 10 times in his last dozen starts, winning the other two. His last win came in the 2009 Arkle.
Cooper added: “He’s had a good preparation and he’ll have improved from his run at Cheltenham.”
Jockey arrangements have not been finalised for the Kerry hope who is set to be joined in the King George by his compatriot, Sizing Europe, a 14 to 1 shot in ante-post betting. Kauto Star dominates the betting as he pursues an unprecedented fifth success in the King George. Bookmakers rate Long Run to be his big danger.
