Bertie ╙g Murphy and Larry Tompkins have been ratified as Cork hurling and football managers. The decision was due to be announced two weeks ago, but Cork officials deferred proceedings following the death of former county football goalkeeper, John Kerins.
Murphy had been expected to take over as manager since Tom Cashman's resignation following Cork's championship defeat to Limerick in the Munster championship, although the county did appoint a seven-man committee to seek the best candidates for both hurling and football managers.
A previous manager of the under-21 team in recent years, Murphy is familiar with many of the players on the current squad who graduated from those teams.
Tompkins was reappointed as senior football manager for a seventh term, although there was some doubts about his future following Cork's All-Ireland qualifier defeat to Galway.
