1 ALAN QUIRKE (Valley Rovers)

Age: 30. Height: 6ft 4in. Weight: 13st 7lb. Job: Army officer

Impressive presence in the area. Very dependable and has shown that quality since coming back from injury. Can get both direction and distance in his kicks.

2 MICHAEL SHIELDS (St Finbarr's)

Age: 21. Height: 6ft 1in. Weight: 13st 7lb. Job: Student.

Solid corner back who never gets caught in possession, but maybe a little too anxious to bring the ball outfield and could be tighter and more aggressive.

3 GRAHAM CANTY (Bantry Blues)

Age: 27. Height: 6ft 1in. Weight: 13st 11lb. Job: Engineer.

Best full back in the country with height, strength and pace that enables him mark any forward. Will be kept close to goal if Donaghy wanders. An inspiration.

4 KIERAN O'CONNOR (Aghada)

Age: 28. Height: 5ft 10in. Weight: 13st. Job: Mechanical fitter.

I'm uncertain about why he goes forward as much as he does, as this can be suicidal for a corner back, especially as he has the quickness to stay tight.

5 NOEL O'LEARY (Cill na Martra)

Age: 25. Height: 5ft 11in. Weight: 12st 12lb. Job: Tree surgeon.

Typifies the heart and aggression Billy Morgan wants from players. Plays on edge and has to be more attentive to discipline and concentrate on playing football.

6 GER SPILLANE (Ballygarvan)

Age: 26. Height: 6ft 1in. Weight: 13st. Job: Sales representative

Solid rather than spectacular and has the strength to hold the middle well. He is another defender, who needs to be careful about the forward runs he makes.

7 JOHN MISKELLA (Ballincollig)

Age: 29. Height: 5ft 11in. Weight: 12st 4lb. Job: EMC (Manufacturing).

More defensively minded than the unfortunate Lynch, has the pace to cover ground and stay with his man. Doesn't get distracted by attacking options.

8 NICHOLAS MURPHY (Carrigaline)

Age: 29. Height: 6ft 5in. Weight: 14st 13lb. Job: Sales manager (National Flooring)

Best year to date, he looks fitter. His covering of ground is phenomenal, getting forward and creating the extra man and he could exploit Ó Sé's declining mobility.

9 DEREK KAVANAGH (Nemo Rangers) (Captain)

Age: 28. Height: 6ft 2in. Weight: 14st. Job: Engineer.

Tremendous work-rate and an unselfish forager for breaking ball. Does the hard, unnoticed work in midfield. Capable of handling Séamus Scanlon comfortably.

10 CONOR McCARTHY (O'Donovan Rossa)

Age: 26. Height: 6ft. Weight: 12st 7lb. Job: Commercial lender (Bank of Scotland)

Has been a very effective sub all year but hasn't always played well in matches he starts. An effective impact player, he works back and is unselfish in possession.

11 PEARSE O'NEILL (Aghada)

Age: 27. Height: 6ft 5in. Weight: 15st 7lb. Job: Accountant.

Not a creative centre forward and more of an extra midfielder with his ability to win Alan Quirke's kick-outs. Part of a physically imposing midfield diamond.

12 KEVIN McMAHON (Carbery Rangers)

Age: 25. Height: 6ft 2in. Weight: 13st. Job: Civil servant.

Very polished footballer with good balance and comfortable in possession. If he gets time and space he'll exploit it with scores. Playing better than last year.

13 JAMES MASTERS (Nemo Rangers)

Age: 25. Height: 6ft. Weight: 13st.

Job: Garda.

Surprised by this. First it's going to be hard for him to get to match pace after injury and secondly he'd benefit from the greater space in the half forwards.

14 MICHAEL CUSSEN (Glanmire)

Age: 23. Height: 6ft 6in. Weight: 15st. Job: Student Garda.

Still inexperienced, but his size and endeavour have made an impact and have to be a problem for a smaller player like O'Sullivan. Also effective around midfield.

15 DONNCHA O'CONNOR (Ballydesmond)

Age: 26. Height: 6ft. Weight: 12st. Job: Fitter.

Works hard and makes the difficult runs to gain possession. Hard to mark, can kick off both feet and he's also deceptively strong despite relatively slight physique.
