LEAGUE OF IRELAND PREMIER DIVISION: Cork City 2 Dundalk 1:SECOND-HALF goals from Kevin Long and Fahrudin Kuduzovic saw Cork City fight back to beat Dundalk at Turner's Cross last night. They stay in third spot in the table with one game left to play, three points ahead of Derry City.
The home side dominated for long periods, but were rocked when Shaun Kelly gave Dundalk a surprise lead in the 19th minute with a dipping shot.
Davin O’Neill had chances to equalise in that first half, the most eventful part of which was a mini-brawl in injury time which saw Cork’s Danny Murphy and Dundalk’s Paul McAreavy sent off.
Cork started the second half brightly and were rewarded after five minutes when Long met Kuduzovic’s cross to send the ball past Peter Cherrie, who had done so much to keep the Louth side ahead.
Then, midway through the half, Kuduzovic was fouled by Kelly in the box and converted the spot kick himself, before Kelly’s night ended prematurely a minute later as he saw red for a second bookable offence.
Towards the end, Cork could have stretched their lead but will be happy with the win which keeps them on course for European football next year.
