David Coulthard has postponed his wedding to concentrate on his dream of world championship glory. The Scot had been expected to marry American model Heidi Wichlinski this summer, but does not want the distraction after being unable to find a date in his busy schedule.
The couple survived a private jet crash-landing last year in France which killed both pilots.
Coulthard, 30 next month, revealed the decision in Valencia as he unveiled the McLaren car he hopes will finally bring him the drivers' crown.
"During a grand prix season there are so many commitments for a driver from testing and racing," said Coulthard. "To do the job properly does not allow a great deal of time for other things."
Coulthard believes the Mercedes-powered MP4-16, which he continued to put through its paces in Spain yesterday, will be free of the early reliability problems that dogged last year's car.
"This is the best roll-out of a car I have had at McLaren," said Coulthard, entering his sixth year with the team. "It's very encouraging."
Jean Todt will remain Ferrari team director until the end of 2004. Technical director Ross Brawn, engine department head Paolo Martinelli and chief designer Rory Byrne will also stay in their existing roles until 2004, Ferrari added.
