Peter Cowley, the reigning Leinster seniors champion, maintained his impressive form in the inaugural Seniors Internationals at Portmarnock Golf Club yesterday when he doubled up to win both his foursomes and singles matches in Ireland's 5-2 win over Wales.
Having shared the morning foursomes, Ireland dominated the afternoon singles in the match with Wales - recording wins in the top four of the five singles encounters - to set up a winner-takes-all showdown with England, conquerors of Sweden. Ireland need to beat England in today's final series of matches; a draw would be sufficient to give England victory, as they have a superior points total heading into the final day.
