You can't beat a bit of originality and a Dublin-based company, appropriately enough called The Craic, are producing a nice line of off-the-wall golfing cartoons which, apart from making pretty nice prizes, should also appeal to golfers who would be willing to fork out some cash even if they don't manage to make the rostrum.

A framed montage of the "Rules of Golf" (but not as you know them), for instance, is available from the company for £45 (including VAT) while a single cartoon is priced at £25 and a double cartoon is £35, all the work of cartoonist Terry Willers.

"We're attempting to produce products which are a little different," explains director Brian Davitt. "Apart from the Rules, which are available in montage or individually, we also have cartoons depicting yips and sockets, which most golfers will be familiar with, as Terry sees it."

Each illustration can be produced in different forms: as a postcard; as a series one, two or three mounted and framed, or in A4 mounted and framed. Also, The Craic will take on commissioned work "with sufficient notice," which should appeal to the corporate market or club captains who want something a little bit special for their day.

Certainly, it's a novel approach to the sport and brings some fun into golf, which is what the game is all about, isn't it? The Craic can be contacted on 01-230 1651, while a selection of their work can also be viewed in Eamonn Taylor's "The Clubhouse" in Blackrock, Dublin.
