Old Crescent suffered another significant defeat when beaten by Lansdowne at Rosbrien. It was a heartbreak defeat for the Limerick side, who are hovering near the bottom of the table. It seemed as if Lansdowne had shot their bolt when they mounted a final effort two minutes into injury time.
Having held out against persistent pressure, the Old Crescent defence was finally breached when Stephen O'Connor got the only try of the game sufficiently close to the posts to enable David Quigley add the match-winning conversion.
Even this blow did not kill off Old Crescent, who almost regained the lead but a dropped goal attempt by Billy Treacy with the last kick of the game curled tantalisingly wide in the stiff breeze.
Old Crescent had an early penalty by Treacy but Quigley was on target for Lansdowne.
However, another Treacy penalty after 21 minutes had his side 6-3 in front at the interval.
Playing against a stiff breeze in the second half, Old Crescent found themselves on the defensive but they managed to stretch their lead with another Treacy penalty after 53 minutes.
International Shane Horgan returned to action with Lansdowne and played in the centre and was quite prominent.
