So Old Crescent stay at the top of the table but not without a scramble. A second half revival was necessary for the Limerick side to finally triumph 26-10 over Belfast Harlequins to keep their drive for promotion intact. Old Crescent were trailing 9-10 at half-time but once again Billy Treacy's boot was accurate.
His valuable contribution of three penalties, two conversions and a drop goal along with a try added to that from Glen Gelderbloom for what was finally a comfortable win.
Right behind Crescent both City of Derry and UCD had wins to keep up the pressure on at the top. Derry came out 1711 17 winners over UCC at the Mardyke in a win that keeps them in second place. Ashley Bond and Steve Smith tries, along with the inevitable contribution from Andy Kettyle put the students to the sword.
UCD had a better day at Belfield where they notched up 30 points against Belfast's Malone. Outhalf Paddy Wallace started the ball rolling in the first half when he managed all of the Dublin side's 16-point haul, taking them to a 16-5 interval lead. A Neil Best try shortly after halftime revived hopes somewhat for Malone but UCD's Des Dillon and Michael Colling each ran in a try for a final 30-12 margin.
Not to be outdone in high scoring, Greystones stormed to what was a critical few points for them. A 41-32 win over Dolphin at Musgrave Park gives the Wicklow side a little more breathing space at the bottom of the table with Dolphin quite safe in mid-table. Five tries from Greystones, two of them coming late in the game from Conor Naughton earned them not only the win but a bonus point as well.
The Dublin derby involving Old Belvedere and Wanderers ended with the visitors Wanderers taking home the points from Angelsea Road after Kevin Nowlan helped himself to 21 points with two tries, three penalties and a conversion, thus thwarting Belvedere's hopes of finishing in the top four.
At Donnybrook, however, Bective Rangers earned their win over Sunday's Well when Ciaran Curle and winger James Hardy ran in early tries with John Bresnihan adding three penalties and a conversion in a 23-17 win for the home team.
