SCHOOLS RUGBY/St Attracta's, Tubbercurry - 27; St Joseph's, Galway - 26: Gary Curran denied St Joseph's College, Galway, with a last-gasp penalty in this gripping Connacht Schools' Junior Cup quarter-final in Ballyhaunis. Outhalf Curran struck the ball from 20 yards out on the stroke of full-time to give St Attracta's victory.
Curran also landed a couple of conversions earlier in the game to finish as his team's top scorer.
The winners' back line played superbly throughout but the St Joseph's forwards were also very alert and appeared to have secured victory until Curran struck.
St Joseph's opened the scoring after seven minutes with a try by number eight Cathal O'Shea, who added two more tries to cap a fine performance. The St Attracta's captain, Seán Henry, opened the Sligo side's account with an 11th-minute try but St Joseph's finished the half ahead, 19-12.
St Joseph's came under a lot of pressure in the second period but O'Shea, Keith O'Reilly at outhalf and scrumhalf Stephen Kelly always posed a big threat to the Tubbercurry side. A Brian Neary try steadied St Attracta's before Curran struck at the final whistle.
