CYCLING:Robin Seymour's bid to extend his national cyclocross championship record to 18 wins fell 11 seconds short yesterday, with Banbridge CC rider Roger Aiken getting the better of the Wicklow man.
After the duo kept close tabs on each other for much of the event, Aiken got clear towards the end and maintained a small but solid lead to take the race. It was his third triumph, having won in 2005 and again in 2008.
Third place went to former An Post Grant Thornton Seán Kelly rider Conor McConvey, who will race this season with the new Continental team “Synergy Baku”.
