Racing: Danjet has the credentials to give Abergavenny trainer David Evans a big-race success in the £135,000 Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury today.
The Danehill Dancer filly still appears at the top of her game and if anything looks to be getting better, despite having had eight races already. Tough and very consistent, she has been a credit to connections and put up her best performance to date last time out at Windsor when racing prominently and readily accounting for Give Me The Night. Not disgraced when down the field in the Queen Mary at the Royal meeting, Danjet is on an upward curve and it often pays to stick with improving fillies at this time of year.
Yankee George gets the nap vote in the opening Racing UK Conditions Stakes with the Mick Channon stable in sparkling form. The Cape Cross gelding showed an excellent attitude in beating Sonny Santino and Genari at Doncaster, both of whom came into that race with solid credentials.
Michael Stoute's Asawer looks the answer to the Siemens Smart Homes Technology Aphrodite Stakes at Newmarket. The filly has only had three career starts and ran a blinder last time out at the Royal meeting when third in the Ribblesdale. That was an excellent effort on her first run outside of maiden company.
At The Races yesterday won its claim at the British High Court for an injunction against the British Horseracing Board to stop the cutting-off of the supply of pre-race data it receives from the Press Association (PA). The judgement came following an interim hearing after At The Races alleged the BHB had abused its dominant position.
The injunction prevents the BHB from forcing At The Races to pay significant fees and enter into data agreements, and also prevents the switching-off of the data feed.
The court held that the supply of pre-race data was essential to ATR's business and the potential loss of business could not be compensated in money. A trial date has been set for October, where the issues raised in the injunction application will be heard.
In the meantime, the BHB has been ordered to make an interim payment of £50,000 to At The Races on account of its costs within the next 14 days.
