O'Byrne Cup/DCU 1-14 Louth 0-11:DCU proved too sharp for Louth in this O'Byrne Cup tie in Darver, near Dundalk last night, a superb start sending the students through to the next round and a match with Offaly in Tullamore on Sunday.
The Dublin College registered the first five scores of the game inside 11 minutes, three of them falling to Cavan star Seanie Johnston as an experimental Louth were caught cold. With Johnston being ably supported by Conor Mortimer and Shane Smith, DCU went into the break 0-10 to 0-3 to the good. However, a run of six points in a row gave the hosts some encouragement but hopes of a recovery were dashed in the 63rd minute when Cathal Gregg pounced for the only goal.
