WATERFORD SHC SEMI-FINALS: De La Salle 2-21, Passage 2-5: BUOYED BY tremendous performances from county stars John Mullane and Kevin Moran, De La Salle qualified for the decider with a comprehensive win over outsiders Passage at Walsh Park.

Eoin Kelly goaled in the third minute for Passage, but his County team-mate Mullane struck back straight away with a three-pointer.

John Keane also found the net on 15 minutes as they took a 2-8 to 1-3 lead at the interval.

De La Salle picked off some delightful long-range scores in the second half and kept Passage scoreless for 25 minutes until Joe McCleane scored a late consolation goal.

Ballygunner get lucky

Ballygunner 1-16 Lismore1-16: REIGNING CHAMPIONS Ballygunner were lucky to get out of Fraher Field with their championship ambitions intact after a frenetic hour's hurling. In the end an injury-time point by team captain Shane OSullivan gave them another bite of the cherry.

The champions scored a fantastic goal through David O’Sullivan after 18 minutes but still trailed Lismore by 0-10 to 1-4.

With the wind at their backs, Ballygunner soon levelled matters but a goal from the outstanding Maurice Sheridan (1-10) and a point from David Howard looked to have sealed it for Lismore until O’Sullivan’s effort from 60 yards saved the day.
