Group G Fenerbahce 1 Inter Milan 0:A 43rd-minute goal from Brazilian forward Deivid earned Fenerbahce a 1-0 win over Inter Milan in their Champions League Group G opener last night.
Fenerbahce piled the pressure on the Italians in the first half, creating several chances. A shot from playmaker Alex de Souza sailed over the bar in the 27th minute and Julio Cesar saved a Deivid header in the 32nd.
Fenerbahce took the lead just before half-time when Deivid's volley hit the target following Alex's cross from right and Inter found no reply.
In the other game in the group second-half goals from Danko Lazovic and Kenneth Perez gave PSV Eindhoven a 2-1 victory over CSKA Moscow.
Perez, who replaced injured playmaker Ibrahim Afellay in the 27th minute, was the key to victory - setting up Lazovic to break the deadlock in the 59th minute and personally sealing the points 10 minutes from the end.
Brazilian striker Vagner Love scored the consolation goal for the visitors in the 89th minute.
PSV were toiling until Afellay left the pitch with a broken toe and was replaced by Perez, the Dane sparking a marked improvement in the home side's performance.
They gained control and created their first chance within minutes when Lazovic broke through, after Vasili Berezutski failed to clear the ball, and forced a save from keeper Veniamin Mandrykin.
The breakthrough finally came just before the hour, with Perez recovering the ball inside the Russian defence and supplying Lazovic for the opening goal. Exploiting space on the counter-attack, Perez settled the match when he beat Mandrykin with a fierce shot at the near post.
