Michael Dempsey has turned down a Carlow move to have him appointed as senior football manager.
A member of the Kilkenny senior hurling backroom team, Dempsey was approached by Carlow county committee officers but has opted against a return to Carlow where he enjoyed considerable success with club side O'Hanrahan's.
Wexford's hopes of having a new senior football manager in place have received a setback. Aidan O'Brien, who has coached Good Counsel College to success, has not allowed his name go forward for the position vacated by Paul Bealin. Former Dublin star Mick Galvin has also decided not to follow in the footsteps of his former playing colleague, Bealin.
