NEWS ROUND-UP:WESTMEATH'S HURLERS claimed the Christy Ring Cup at Croke Park thanks to substitute Andrew Dermody's last-gasp winning point – giving the Leinster county a 2-16 to 1-18 victory over Kerry.
An entertaining game entered injury-time level after Brendan Murtagh had cancelled out Kerry’s one-point lead and, with the game in the balance, Dermody popped up under the Cusack Stand to win it for the Lake County.
Meanwhile, Paul Breen was the hero for Armagh as he slotted over an injury-time point to defeat London, 3-15 to 3-14, and claim the Nicky Rackard Cup.
The corner forward already had two goals to his name when he received the ball, and he stayed cool to deliver the vital score.
And Garrett Ghee was the main man once again for Longford as they claimed the Lory Meagher Cup with a dominant 1-20 to 1-12 display against 14-man Donegal in the early game at Croke Park.
