Derry 0-13 Westmeath 1-7 DERRY qualified for the third round at Cusack Park, Mullingar, on Saturday in front of 2,256 spectators. Derry captain Gerard O'Kane retired injured midway through the first half but the winners, with James Kielt and Mark Lynch impressive, led at the break 0-8 to 0-5.
Three points from Derry had them in control early in the second half, on 0-11 to 0-5 before Westmeath’s Martin Flanagan goaled in the 48th minute. Joe Diver was dismissed on a second yellow card in the 53rd minute, but Westmeath failed to capitalise on this.
