Finn Harps 0 Derry City 2: Towering centre-half Clive Delaney played a key role both in attack and defence for Derry City as they swept back to the top of the Premier Division with a thoroughly deserved win over their near neighbours in front of nearly 4,000 spectators at Finn Park on Saturday night.
Delaney snuffed out the challenge of Finn Harps striker Kevin McHugh and also had a hand in the opening City goal. Heshowed some fancy footwork in the 39th minute as he ghosted into the Harps box and although his initial shot was blocked by Gavin Cullen, Mark Farren was on hand to nod home from close range.
City then effectively bagged the points on the stroke of half-time as Gary Beckett was taken down by Ian Rossiter and Alan Murphy tucked home the spot-kick.
