All-Ireland MFC Quarter-final/Derry 1-8 Cork 1-7:A spirited fightback by Derry's minor footballers provided their supporters with something to celebrate at Croke Park.

Derry trailed by 1-3 to 0-0 as Cork blazed out of the blocks with Barry O'Driscoll coolly finding the net after nine minutes to add to his early point and with Ciarán Sheehan and Derek O'Callaghan also on the mark.

Declan Mullan kept Derry in touch with two points but by the interval Cork led by 1-4 to 0-2.

Scores from Lee Moore and captain Charlie Kielt helped Derry close the gap to only three points. The same two players then combined with Moore setting up his skipper to fire the ball into the top corner of the net to tie the scores at 1-7 apiece.

Derry then edged in front when Mullan registered his third point of the game but Cork had two late chances to rescue the match. O'Callaghan's late piledriver at goal was saved by Andrew Warnock and in the dying seconds O'Driscoll was off target with a close-range free.
