Frankie Dettori has decided to fight the lengthy ban he was handed at the Curragh on Sunday.
The Italian jockey, stood down for a total of 12 days, yesterday elected to lodge an appeal with the Irish Turf Club after consultation with Jockeys' Association secretary Michael Caulfield.
"We have lodged an appeal and it will be heard early next week," Caulfield said.
Dettori was banned for improper riding on Altibr and for using a defective back protector, which had no crotch strap so as to avoid aggravating a previous haemorrhoid condition.
It was confirmed yesterday that the appeals against both punishments will be heard next Monday at 10.30 a.m.
